You can install/update/repair PB with it:ġ) Download PBSetup for mac from this link:Ģ) Unarchive the file to your Desktop (this should happenģ) Run PBSetup - If the archive expanded correctly in your Desktop folder, you should have a "n" application link double click this. Note #2: You may want to try our tool "PBSetup". The PC, on which punkbuster is mostly tested on, probably installs everything into one Quake 4 directory - not 2 like on the mac (Applications/Quake 4 & library/application support/Quake 4). IMHO, I think that the problem has to do with the different directories that Quake 4 data is housed in. After you run the update, the app says that Quake 4 punkbuster isn't installed, which is weird. You have to manually find your Quake 4 punkbuster location in the downloaded app - my was in library/application support/Quake 4. Their fix, included below, seems to work. I sent in a help ticket to the punkbuster folks. Some servers don't utilize punkbuster but it seems like most do.ĭoes anybody have a workaround? Do the new files have to be downloaded via a certain method? Or, do server admins have to install the new mac specific files so the solution is out of our hands? Also, it looks like the files were automatically downloaded anyway.
I manually update my files but I keep being kicked. Since the update, I keep being kicked from servers and told to manually update my punkbuster files. There was a punkbuster file update on 5/27 that is making life hard on those who love Quake 4 multiplayer.
